Anyone know where I can get cheap fruit and Veg in Glasgow City center? sick and tired of sainsbury's and Tesco and I live too far from the west end where there seems to be lots of green grocers.

Is that on every saturday or Sunday? Its near Royston innit.
Strange as it seems try Aldi, they source their veg locally. The same with Lidl.
There's also the Asian food shops on the Southside, especially around Allison Street.

Sunday and Wednesday, I think.

allison street is littered with fruit markets. (litteraly!) so much so it makes the area look an absolute mess.
I also dont trust the hygeine of several of these fruit shops after seeing the conditions the food is stored in.

that's further out than the west end though.
where you staying roughly? cos if it's just for gettin stuff while working up the town, you'd prob be better bringing it from wherever; if you live in the town, you'd be worth making the journey once or twice a week to roots and fruits or somewhere (one of them's right near kelvinbridge ug).

I stay in the G51 area. But having a girlfriend from a 'fairly'middle-class area and background she drives me round to get decent produce.
There is also theincreasingly available 'farmers veg baskets'. A mate gets one delivered weekly and the veg is real quality produce. :)
that's handy - where i am there's nowhere at all to get fruit on a sunday or bank holiday, and nowhere to get organic stuff that i'm increasingly buying but luckily the west end is just a discovery ticket away.

No, we export our fruit-filled bins to Livingston
Shawlands has a couple of not bad greengrocers, but really you are probably better off taking a wee wander down Great Western Road (or jump on the subway if its pissing down)
