Funding has come and gone out of the European bucket and it seems that Lambeth didn't do very well at all

I am concerned that Assembly Members are not being consulted by the LDA in their review of the regeneration partnership or strategies for their areas. Lambeth Council has a poor track record in delivering Council led regeneration schemes and was a relative loser in SRB bids because of their lack of regeneration capacity.

So, what does Regeneration mean, either in the context of Brixton or in the wider sense of the word.. and why is Lambeth being given special attention by Valerie Shacross?

Her constituency in the GLA is Lambeth & Southwark and it's relatively marginal now. Result here (http://www.vauxhall.libdems.org.uk/news/12.html)

Oh joy. It's just like the old days. :D :D

In my view, Lambeth's record on regeneration is abysmal. It has been happy to encourage private enterprises that benefit only the already privileged and has done very little that benefits the general (and largely poor) population. And the show is not over yet -- witness Lambeth's plans to pull down the Rec and put in a shopping mall.

Citydreams, have a trawl and you'll find all sorts of threads, some of them somewhat heated, on this very issue. Time has passed since then and I think the council has become, if possible, even less popular than it was.

Ah yes, you mean giving at least 76,000 smackeroos (some claim it was as much as twice that) to a certain old Etonian nightclub entrepreneur. While giving bugger all to responsible veteran Brixton businesses like 414.

Brixton Cycles was deservedly the flagship but it was otherwise a bit of a sick joke. I fear there was more croneyism than allocation of funds on the grounds of where they would best be invested.

Clapham Park Project - Shite or bad?

They spend a lot of money on ads and cheapo PR-ing.
Don't know exactly what they've done.

The regeneration team reported directly to the Chief Executive. I don't think you need "deep throat" sources in the Town Hall to have heard that the shambolic state of so many regeneration projects may not have been entirely unrelated to Faith Boardman's "early retirement".
