That shop at the Bottom of Acre Lane (Boulevard) used to sell them. Has anyone seen any anywhere else, please? (they have become an object of desire for visiting relatives from NY!)

What was on these T-Shirts that made them so Brixton then?

Was it just the word "brixton" ... "i (heart) brixton"... "i got laid in stockwell" ??

LOL.
I think they just said 'brixton' - but there had been some legal row against the shop because someone tried to claim they had nicked some brand image, or something.

Certainly no naff 'I (heart) Brixton', or 'my dealer went to Brixton, and all I got was this lousy T shirt' line!

I've got a Brixton t-shirt (naturally!)

It's navy and white, and just has "Brixton" on the front and "SW9" on the back. someone got it for me from here (http://www.savagelondon.com/) although that was ages ago.....not sure if they still do them. :)

More importantly, why aren't they making 'Balham' (Gateway to the South)tees.

It would be nice to have one with a little map of Brixton on the back showing things like the Albert, the Canterbury Arms, the Phoenix, Dogstar, the Lounge, your favorite greengrocers (the Ethiopian in my case)crackdealers on the corner...etc.

I know (as does Mrs M) the lady who did the Brockwell Park/Dulwich Park maps with all the local luminaries on. Perhaps she could do one. I'll suggest it to her next time I see her.

I've got a t shirt which says "Home is Brixton" with "peace, love, repect, unity" (or something) also incorporated on it.

I've also go one of those "B whatever" tshirts. think like B welcome on the bridge.

I know people who treat their "Brixton welcomes Nelson Mandela" T shirts from 1996 like holy relics, only bringing them out once a year.

You can't get them any more because they were absolutely CRAP and made everyone wearing them look like a right bloody nob end.

Those Peoples Republic of Cork T-Shirts are very popular. Some really good other ones here: http://peoplesrepublicofcork.buy.ie/catalog/index.php - although you may need to be from Cork to understand some of them.

Very good site too.

thus perpetuating the idea that Brixton is a place young people come to to get pissed of an evening. Nice.

At around the time Boulevard had them in the the window at a hideous price, I bought one in the market for a couple of quid. Never worn it though, for the reasons Enid outlined.

No... I'm "girl" when she remembers not to call me by my brother's name..

She does occasionally call me/others things in Irish that no one understands though...

Her language has been heavily influenced by working in the SE London probation service.. so nowadays she's more likely to call people "wankers" than "langers" tbh.. :D

Something to make fashionable Brixton seem more attractive? Given that I don't think that's a great idea, I doubt I'm about to go into Tshirt design.
