Lack of accomodation, need to come back... Any ideas? Eurostar is stupidly expensive at the moment, can't find anything less than 150 quid!

Any ideas at all welcomed, including hitchiking, train/ferry combinations. Ideally less than 50 quid, within the next week. Am technically homeless as of Friday but have places to crash temporarily.

I've hitched from Paris to ports a couple of times (Calais to get to London, Le Havre for Ireland) then blagged lifts onto ferries from truckers and motorists. I took a train to one of the most westerly Parisian suburbs and hitched from there. It cost next to nothing and I was taken out for drinks and food and got put up for the night when necessary, stayed in a beautiful Normandy farmhouse one time. Anyone who bothers stopping to give a lift will most likely go out of their way to look after you. If you have trouble getting someone to give you a lift onto the ferry, I think foot passenger tickets are cheap enough, under 20 quid surely, less than 150 quid anyway.

Check out the "slow" rail/ferry possibilities at the end of this page: http://www.seat61.com/France.htm
