OK, I'm taking a bit of a risk here 'cos I know how savage some of you guys can get but, here goes......
A few weeks ago my partner and I were lookin at the night sky from our terrace on Brixton Hill at about 12.45am....... and, er, well, we saw something odd overhead. I'm not going to go into much more detail for the reasons set out in the first line but just wondered what the general feelings towards such things with you boys and girls.
Just to stress, we are not cooky UFO types in the least. We've been watching the sky for years and neither of us have ever seen anything, other than this, that could not be attributed to something tangible.....!
Now..... I don't post very often...... So, be gentle wid me.....

Nothing to start off with. We were looking at cygnus when my attention was pulled to one of her more easterly stars which appeared to flicker off for less than a second before reappearing. This happened to a few other stars until we realised that it was being caused by some kind of black (or very dark) 'V' shaped object. It was a very clear night with little polution and great seeing conditions and we were able to follow it for about 90 secs as it went from east to west......?

The floodlights have been on at The Oval this week - they're into the day / night season

they're years and years old now, when's the next cool plane being released, or at least being allowed into public awareness?
When the next UFO is captured and analysed of course. ;)

yeah, me thought about B2. I think I'm sure that that's not it simply because the angle of the tip was to sharp. Is the B2 silent?
I've seen the lights it the oval, totally unrelated.

[tries desperately to recall A level geography from 20 years ago]
A tall cumulonimbus cloud associated with the sort of weather front that caused the stormy showers a few weeks ago could have been tall and dense enought to block out the stars.
IIRC its base would probably have be dark enough not to conspicously reflect back light pollution in the way that most clouds do.

yeah, me thought about B2. Do you really talk like that? Or do you think it's cool?

Except that 'I' has half as many letters as 'me'.
When I was about 13 I was gazing at the moon with my binoculars at night and to my astonishment a military jet crossed right across it. It had no lights on but I could tell from the silhouette. The chances of that must be 1000's to one.
That's amazing Loki! :)
The triangle plane could have been an Aurora (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_aircraft) as well.

I sense a nasty cutting edge to that question but thankfully am not inclined to respond in a like manner....!
Which set me thinking and I guess I have many ways of presenting myself. Not that you'll be interested intostella, but the use of the 'me' instead of the 'I' was (I think...?) an attempt to make myself more....
..... actually, you know what, you ain't gettin (abbreviated for 'cool' effect) a real answer. You weren't asking a real question were you.......?

Some birds fly in a V formation. A possibility?

Or possibly an alien spaceship?

Or possibly an alien spaceship?
Yes, that's the most likely explanation. We were just going for the wacky ones first.
