a little news from Dissensus, as if there wasn't enough going on this weekend, for the Hackney massive>
"Vyner Street festival - London E2 - this weekend (27/28 Aug)
This Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon onwards, they’ll be live performances and djs on Vyner Street E2, which is kinda sandwiched between Hackney and Bethnal Green (off Cambridge Heath Rd in close proximity to Victoria Park, Broadway Market, Regents Canal).
They’ll also be market stall selling an unusual array of things. There are a couple of stalls going (very cheaply) if anyone is interested?
There’s also stuff for kids and a village fete theme.
The programme of bands has ended up dominated by indie/folk/rock –
Can you believe in an early meeting with the Police, Council and Fire Brigade the Tower Hamlet superintendent started by saying ‘they’ll be no rap, no garage, no r’n’b, no reggae (!!)….absolutely incredible. Fortunately (for the djs) they said nothing about grime, crunk, reggaeton, bashment…
The bands include: Mon Fio, Jesus Licks, Tits and death, Chenko, The Council , Alan Tyler, The Composers, Blanket and The Camarillos. They’ll be an open mic slot on Sunday if anybody fancies hooking up at late notice. And I’ll be djing and will (police forbidding) play some dissensus favourites.
Anyhow – cos I’m new ‘to this music game’ I can’t promise anything, but with some good weather it might just be a good shindig. Come along if youre in the vicinity…"
