Tonight I became the the first person I Know to fall victim to "Drive By Happy Slapping " ( sorry I spent some time tryign to think of a better name for it but thats the best my addled mind could do .... ideas on a postcard ?? ).
I was walking along Brixton Road just coming up to Brixton Station Road when one of the old Routemaster bus's went past, unfortunately as it turned out, quite fast. I was on the road side of the pavement and as it was about to pass me I heard some one say "go on do it".
That was when I got hit by a stuck out leg on the back of my neck which nearly pitched me into a car comming up to the junction of Brixton and Brixton Station Roads.
I looked at the back of the bus as it disappeared off down the road ( wouldn't you know it the bloody traffic lights were on green so it didn't have to stop ! ) and saw 3-4 teen oiks pi$$ing themsleves with laughter and one of them still with his foot out looking for another target. :mad:

I didn't bother running after it as i wasn't going to catch it and i didn't want to give them any further fun.

Just one more thing to look out for now as a pedestrian as weell as poo bikes craters and needles ..... !!!

Anyway just wondered if this had happened to anyone else cos it the first time I have heard of it ??

This fucks me off now. I don't know what to do about it, but it's made me (almost) be against the free transport for kids thing that Livingstone is doing because some buses will be no-go areas, particularly on a Saturday (I'm thinking Wood Green - Edmonton, but I'm sure there's others).

I'm getting off here for the football now!

sorry to hear what happened to you, if it is a new craze it has a very limited shelf life, routemasters are being phased out by october

Anyone remember in the late eighies there was a fad for throwing vegetables at people from moving cars? (I'm not making this up, honest).

It was in a certain area, who's identity eludes me - there were nearly a hundred incidents over a period of about six months.

Oh the jolly japery.

Came to a swift halt when they threw a large melon at a jogger, who subsequently had a heart attack and died.

Will take more then a coiple of little prats like that to do me in ( famous last words ) although it did set off my old neck sprain a bit but it feels much better now after a couple of purely medicinal vodkas .... I believe i am joining you in the slapped ubBrixton Community ... maybe we should start a support group ? ;)

ooh great idea.. will give some thought to a good name.... such as slappers anonyous group support.... aka SLAGS.... :D
