Finally got around to buying myself a new camera..... mmm Nikon D50

I was going to get the Canon 350D / 300D, but I'm not impressed with them. The lenses are shite, and my brother's had exactly the same problem's as Garf's... I've also used one a few times, and I just don't like them!

Besides stick a Nikon ED lense on it and you're laughing, AFAIK Nikon are the only lense makers to have their own glass foundry. The ED lenses are probably the best I've ever seen.

Mmmmmmmmm Nikon.

I`m sick of taking pictures of the cat :(

What are they like at taking night shots? And I still aint worked out how to change the shutter speed on 'S', do you just jog the command dial? I presume the camera will then change the aperture depening, oui?

:should read the fucking manual :D :

Just been reading some reviews, it appears the D50 wipes the floor with the Canon's 350D (which by all accounts is crippled) :)

Now just to sell some more prints, think I may ask for more money now :D

lol
i went to bed last night and read the manual, just as well - it does loads of colour profiles including adobe RGB

edit: I am really enjoying using this. The noise lvls are lower then the D70, the Moire is lower then the D70, and the metering (matrix metering 2) is better then my D70!!!

Nikon need a knighthood for this baby

Ive found them excellent at taking night shots. Worth experimenting with the White Balance settings as they can make or break a photo (night time or not). The shutter speed on 'S' is controlled by the wheel closest to your thumb. And yes, it will set the aperture accordingly. :p

edit - Ah only just noticed you changed it from D70 to D50! Should still apply to what I said though :)

Canon's 18-55 kit lens is a bit shite, which is why I use a 70-200 f4 as my carry lens :D

New cameras are great! Here's to new cameras! :D

I was recently given a new camera for my birthday - not in the same leage as yours, Firky, but excellent for an amateur like me (a Fuji FinePix E550) - and I haven't stopped taking photos since!
