Worth a trip if whatever's on appeals to you.

http://www.designmuseum.org/

Lots of other stuff around Shad Thames if you only last 5 mins in there.

I can't remember if it's free to get in to the exhibition :( The design shop's on the ground floor and good for a wander round. Gadgety stuff in there.

Shad Thames has loads of riverside bars and restaurants. There's also a tea museum.

The Tower of London and The Tower Bridge experience are just a few minutes walk away from Shad Thames. So is the openair amphitheatre near the Mayor's building, and the open air photo exhibition - which is free and great.

You wouldn't be stuck for things to do :)

£6 £4 concessions

As you may have worked out from the overdesigned website, there are two current exhibitions on...

The European Design Show is almost funky by the Design Museum's usual standards of worthy dullness (last year's Thomas Heatherwick curated show excepted) . Petrolheads will like the feature on how a McLaren Mercedes F1 car is designed.

However, I suspect the current Cedric Price (http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/reviews/story/0,11712,1516703,00.html) exhibition is one for architecture buffs only.

I've been a couple of times. They had an excellent Saul Bass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saul_Bass) exhibition last time I went.

If you arrive from north of the river, you can walk over tower bridge too, which gives you a lovely view of the tower of london and the river.

It's £4 as well if you go just an hour before closing; which I found sufficient time on both occassions I went, given the size of the museum.

Lovely coffee and cake as well, always the best thing about going to a museum.

Little Edge and I tried to visit the nearby Tea museum last week but it appeared to have vanished??

Bramah's Tea and Coffee Museum moved a couple of years ago from Butler's Wharf to the other side of "Bankside" at 40 Southwark Street

Time Out are offering two for one tickets to their current exhibition of European Design - hoping to take advantage myself.

It's a bit of a trek from the tube but it's worth - a nice, chilled experience.
