Anyone got any recommendations for a decent pub, on the river, near London Bridge area? By decent, I mean good selection of ales, not stuffed full of suits, and preferably outside area by river for quaffing of drinks. Been a while since boozing down that way and I'm arranging to meet someone tomorrow evening
All ideas gratefully recieved. :D

If you go further down the river to Surrey Quays there's a great pub called the Wibbly Wobbly - it's a boat pub, loads of seating outside on the deck just the place for a late summer evenings drinking.

With that wishlist, I think you've eliminated every possible candidate!
Least bad option is probably the Old Thameside Inn (http://www.fancyapint.com/main_site/thepubs/pub269.htm) a Nicholson's place that is usually filled with tourists rather than suits.
The Anchor (Bankside) is alright, outside anyway. And the litttle rooms are quite quaint. Not sure about booze quality!

The Founders by Blackfriars bridge next to Tate Modern. A Youngs pub so the ale is decent.

ANCHOR, agreed, one of my favourites too, seemingly it's not the same since the refurbishment. :(
Anchor Bankside (http://london.openguides.org/index.cgi?Anchor_(Bankside))
Pickman's might have meant The Grapes in Limehouse, good place.
You could try The Prospect of Whitby in Wapping. Very old (original pewter bar), can sit outside overlooking river. Food OK and not pricey. If you're unlucky, a coachload of tourists but more often than not just locals.

There used to be a good one near the juction of Shoulder of Mutton Lane and Narrow Street.(I can't remember the name of it either)

Hmmm, the Grapes and the Prospect of Whitby both seem interesting but unfortunately a bit too far away for tomorrow.
So I reckon it's between the Founders, the Anchor and the Old Thameside Inn - the first two have write-ups which put me off a bit in terms of service, whereas the last feels like it could be a bit rammo. I'm being pulled towards the Youngs pub cos at least I know I like their ales. Maybe I'll just get my friend along to try out all 3 and that way, we'll probably end up staggering around Limehouse anyway.... ;)
Thanks everyone for replies, will report back following ales :D
