This isn't an infrequent occurrence where I live either - I hate to come over all Daily Mail but you do wonder what sort of parent lets their pubescent kid out at this time.

I have a feeling that the answer is probably one who is well into uncontrolled substance abuse, somehow.........

Saying that, my 5 year old daughter Ireland has taken up trying to hide and smoke. :o

I'm having to watch her like a hawk. :o

There's nuff pikey/raggo younglins around. Girls getting robbed at tram stops is the norm round Croydon way, 'gimme a cigarette' followed by 'gimme your phone'.

it's weird the way the Carnival is at the end of the summer holidays, that's maybe why there's often trouble. Kids have spent 6 weeks hangin out winding each other up and then the last weekend it all spills over.

that said, still the best free party in London.

i have to say that gangs of 12-15yo's scare the hell outta me more than any other group in brixton.

at work we get regular calls to kids out and about at 4am who have various things happen to them (often by similar aged kids). its worrying.

not at twelve but by 14 and 15 i was out and about. but rarely on the streets, cos the streets were full of wanker teenagers. we'd be tucked away somewhere drinking and getting stoned.

Back when I was a teenager in the late '70s- early '80s coppers would quite happily come and hassle you if you were still out and about after about 12.30am. Nowadays they're probably afraid of being done over.
