I'm going to the Isle of Skye in September and I'll be taking me tent. ;)

As it's a hefty drive from Middlesbrough (or Leeds, seeing as I'll have moved then), can anyone suggest somewhere nice that I could stop off? Ideally it'd be halfway between.

Succoth seems about halfway there, and is near the Argyll Forest Park (which is the only reason I've mentioned it, as I've never heard of the place). What's it like?

I'll be camping the Thursday night somewhere halfway, Friday is a camp on Skye, Saturday is another halfway job. So two different suggestions of places around that area would be nice.

Thanks in advance.

Watch out for the midgies.

And if by any chance it starts blowing horizontal rain, do NOT attempt to take the tent down and look for a better campsite as you won't be able to get it back up again.

Apart from that you'll have a lovely time :)

Stirling is about halfway ish? (I have no idea what halfway would be, but anyway..)

There's a wee campsite called the Witches Craig near there

website here (http://www.witchescraig.co.uk/)

I don't do camping very often, if at all, so I'm sure someone else will have a better suggestion, but have a good un anyway!

As far as i know there is 3 youth hostels, Kyleachin, Broadford and Portree

this might be helpful http://www.skye.co.uk/Camping-and-Caravanning.htm

Thanks for the advice, so far.

stroober: I appreciate the links and info, but it's not really what I'm looking for. I'm sorted for Skye camping. It's the inbetween bits I'm stuck for.

Cheers though! :D

I've camped at arrochar before which is right next to succoth, so I think it would be worth a shot :) You could maybe try around the Oban area on your way back down? Pack your midge repellent!
