Isn't that the shop that the lawyers wanted to move into from the lower part of the house next door but got turned down.

pizza! pizza! pizza! pizza!
don't be ridiculous. You can't have 2 pizza places next door to each other :p
simple solution: pizza ring can close.
Yeah a good pizza place. Anything but a shop or take-a-way.
the supposed book shop next to NISA is taking a while to open innit?

I popped in there the other day and asked the guys what it was going to be.
They didn't understand me. I asked what would be sold there and they just looked at each other. I then said "this place - grocers?" They looked at me perplexed. "This place - food?" Guy came over and said "bread". I said "bakers?" Looked even more confused. Then he said "stoff", then "fish" :D
Looking at it, with a counter there, another cafe maybe?

Saw shop sign today. It's called "Adams" and was followed by either "bakery and patisserie" or "bread and patisserie" - can't remember which :o

Sorry I had to twist your arm twisted ;)
Oh, a nice cream cake or something (assuming they sell 'em) :D
Is Brixton Hill still leaking?
dunno..still in se19 but about to go downhill now
yeah it's about time the water mains burts again innit?
oh well ...bought in breads, croissants, sausage rolls and pasties which are the same as you can buy in NISA for less
plus some cakes
same people as the internet cafe a few doors up - they could have just stuck the contents in a rack instead of of opening a new store which must have cost them a bit as the frontage looks smart and has had to be re-designed

So it's crap then?
well i went in and bought some bread today and it wasnt too bad, a girl working hard (but looking very confused) in the back room slaving over what looked like some sort of cake. young man served me was very polite. breads ok. but at £1.39 possibly a tad expensive.

Maybe the price is because it's organic? I'm sure Twisted mentioned it was organic
yeah but it's only the same kind of 400g organic bloomer loaf that you can buy at NISA or even happy Shopper on New Park Rd for the same price or less
it's all just bought in
ah i didnt buy one of them. i bought one of those lumpy catapillar loaves (obv not containing catapillars afaik) with seeds on top. i dunno what they're called.
there did seem to be a weird dead space at the front of the shop.

It looked a little rubbish when I went past the other day. A few loaves at the back of the store, but very little to grab the interest.
Shame really.

The old post office is a bakery on Landor Road... Abel and Cole have their stuff as do very many costcutters and corner stores in Brixton... as well as Brixton wholefoods...

I can't stand the Post Office's bread - heavy and tasteless. Will check the new place out.
it has a tendency to disintegrate in the toaster as well :D
but i like it on occasion

I have to admit it's not my favourite either.. although if you actually go to the shop they have much less dense and far nicer loaves...
The best bread in Brixton in my mind, is the enormous white bloomers they do in my local Portuguese deli.... delicious!!
If you venture as far as Herne Hill though the Bluebird bakery's loaves are spectacular, but pricey.

Have a word, wouldja? I'd love to support a local organic bakery, but I'm really fussy about me bread & know what I like...

This sounds wonderful. Which deli?

It's Nune's fruit and veg at the foot of Tulse Hill (just a few shops up from the Hobgoblin)... it's a very small Portuguese shop with a small sandwich bar and coffee and cakes and stuff... but they do these mahoosive white bloomers (and smaller ones too) which are gorgeous!

Many thanks for that. I'll look forward to checking it out!

He's a rather large and wild looking scotsman so I'm not sure I'd be able to persuade him to change it ;)

A slight digression...when was the last time you came across a shop or restaurant that was so bad the only logical explanation was that it was a front for a money laundering outfit? I can certainly think of a few example...

Where the Chinese takeaway is there used to be some Greek or Cypriot guys that had a pool table in there and sold a few pot plants.
They used to sit outside in the summer and leer at women walking past
Never figured out what the business was but apparently they were a well dodgy family
