cam back from this an hour ago, got there aout 2pm. Was a good day out...the weather was a bit tempramental but everyone there seemed to have been prepared with a brolly and were in good spirits:) There was excellent food and cool music as well some insane rides (i'm too much of a wuss to try them out but i here they were good)
Some cool market stalls selling all kinds of stuff; drums, shoes, clothes, bangles-all sorts of stuff. I bought a cool little drum:D
have loads of photos will try and get them up soon:)
Aye, I had a great afternoon. Lovely food, and lots of different music to bop about to. I too was too much of a wuss to go on the rides. Got a bit wet in the showers, but dried off soon enough. I nearly bought a pizza barbecue oven thing, but common sense prevailed.
I'll post some photos, as soon as I can find my camera cable.

Sounds good. I bet if I'd gone I would have put on about 5 stone in one day from all the food though :D
Yeah the food was good. Had to have a few supplementary samosas along with my lunch.

hehe...yeah i got there about 2.30 and stayed till 7ish was quite happy getting drenched:)
due to the underground there being off it took about 2 hours to get there(though i did get there and back on a zone 1 and 2 ticket) i didnt get there till after 6, and had to leave at half seven, as was headin back up here to scotland last night, but really enjoyed the hour i spent there; food was good, and the whole place was good vibe and soundin good; really would have loved to spend more like 6 or 7 hours there; was lovin the tabla in the classical tent. miles better than the glasgow mela.

acton town station was alright when we got there...which station did u get too?
i was glad they had a good sound system...bad music systems can really kill the vibe at events like this

we got as far as white city, then got replacement bus to ealing broadway, then bus corner of popes road.
We tried to get there in the car after Sunday lunch at my folks in Ealing. Unfortunately there was nowhere to park as they blocked off all the side roads and were charging a fiver for the car park so we came home.
just want to say..hey i did make it out there in the end in the early evening and luckily found my freinds..VERY impressed by the dance performances, music and tasty samosa and beautiful people ;) and the procession at the end with the big silver lit up bird..wish i could have got it together and spent the whole day there..next year for sure :D
sad to see some evidence of india vs pakistan friction there but hey its an ongoing thing i hear ??
im not asian so maybe its none of my business..but the 2 countries are technically at war so what can you say :(

I didn't notice any friction. Lots of police though. What did you see happening?
some kids with indian flags/ pakistan shirts exchanging harsh words, nothing major..i think there was a cricket match that day?

i didn't actually notice any friction myself-although i was expecting too. But it is not surprising that there was some..i dunno about a cricket match but it was Pakistan Independence Day that day so some idiots would have probably used it as an excuse to cause problems
