The White Hart, on Drury Lane, 5 mins walk from Holborn tube is quite pricey, but really nice.. London's oldest licenced premises too. wooo!
Donna... ive heard about the Lamb before... will have to check it out soon. Maybe friday!
ta everyone. :)
we went to the Princess Louise n had a lovely time... great pub! I love the ceiling! definitely going back.
The Princess Louise is fine if you like the Sam Smith's shite. A much better pub is the Old Nick on Sandland Street.
Also www.fancyapint.com is better then beerintheevening.

It's not spam. It's a quality website, I have no affiliation to it, just trying to be helfpful.

the cheshire cheese isn't too far. more a hobbit hole than a pub. good beer though. mind your head.

should have gone to the crosskeys in endel street, then you could have got fish and chips from the rock and soul place to have with your pint

Holborn is blessed with three lovely old pubs, the Louise, Cittie and the Olde Cheshire Cheese. Unfortunatley they're all Smiths pubs and I've always thought the beer is horrible. Reminds me of living up north I expect.
IT IS HEALTHY!!!! If a bit greasy.

Lovely fish cakes.. but they tried to force me to drink something I didn't order, the last time I went in.

Depends what you like. In a SS pub, you don't any other choice. No Guiness either.

Yes, in that respect an SS pub is much like a Gestapo Hotel - very little choice, but the toilets are really really clean.
No Guiness either.
thank goodness for that...

Red pub, Duke of York, opposite Leather Lane
Or have a Panang in Churchills before they knock it down and build flats

I don't drink guiness any more, so I see your point. TBH, most pubs don't have stuff I want to drink.

Do you mean the Melton Mowbray? Or you talking about the other (non-Holborn) end?

Other end of Leather Lane
It's all the same to me, just a hop, skip, and a jump away
Or Clerkenwell House off Leather Lane

Makes a difference at lunchtimes though.

I work opposite the Melton Mowbray, infact we often go there for lunchtime beers. I wouldn't recommend it for evening though.
I have lunch in front of my desk. :(

I find it quite difficult to find a pub I like around Holborn. The new-style King of Diamonds has some ok lager, but it's not cheap. And my local, The Castle, has doubled its prices under new owners. And stopped selling any beers I like.
