Dont know the official entry requirements but I've just come back from a month in the south island seeing me bezzie mate. From what I can make out you need to have a love of the outdoors, hate shoes, love sheep, love red neck pubs and people who scoop roadkill for a living, fuckin hate the police and smoke/grow lots of new zealnd green!!!
Its a wild and wicked place, real pioneer country and you can see the milkey way on a clear night like its right there in front of you!!!! Ahh the memories.
Oh and you can buy NO2 over the counter too!!!!! :D

NZ is an amazing place.
NZ is the most stunning country i have been to, Although i only stayed on the south island, i have heard nothing but good things with regards to the north also. I recommend trying Snowboarding up Mt Hutt if your going to be in the Christchurch area, great for learning and plenty of more experianced run's too. Although i loved the place and will be going back, i dont think i could see myself living there, but i can see why some peaople do, if you love the great outdoors then i am sure it will be right up your street.

I moved to Australia 9 months ago and all the friends I've made have been from NZ. They are bonkers.
They have a very good, forward thinking government at the moment.
They also seem to keep well out of everything that can cause trouble, ie wars.
The US nazy used to take there massive war mongering boats around there a dock to let the "civies" have a look but there current MP basicly told them to fuck off.
Both my partner and I have seriously considered moving down there but I couldnt do it just yet, although Australia is really beginning to give me the shits.
But thats a different story.
Breeding ground for weirdo libertarians though.

In the South Island everyone seems to drive Ford Cortinas or Capris & yes the "mullett" is still around.

Your not from a small town called Reefton on the South Island..?? That's where we saw all the Cortinas & Capris with most males & many females sporting fine mullets.

Have you been mate?
I've been when I went to Australia, unfortunately I only had a month there. It's a stunning place with so much variety in terms of views and scenery. I'd recommend hiring a car because frankly that's the only way of seeing it.
South Island is much more beautiful, but that's not to say the North Island doesn't have its stunning points too. Don't miss Queenstown, especially if you like your bungee jumping and adventure sports. Don't miss Milford Sound either, especially on a rare sunny day.
Lovely people there too. Mad, but nice.
