b-b-but Burnout revenge hasn't come out on the PSP yet.......
I recommend Lumines, Everybodys Golf, Wipeout Pure and Tony Hawks at the moment.

I will buy this but am saving up cash.
£180 is too rich for my blood. And i'm assuming games come at around 40
No.
(£180 for driving games and sports games?)
I'll stick with my DS.

Hm. I already have a PSP so fanboy comments are of no use. Has anyone played Coded Arms? I love FPS games. Any good?
Lumines
Truly a portable game from heaven and the reason I got the PSP, that and the ability to view pictures.

I played. I liked. Have you played Mercury?
Here's one for the DS fans... I found a website that lets you blow up any other website using weapons from Coded Arms:
http://www.usvgl.com/codedarms/codedarmsrange/weapons_range.php?loc=www.usvgl.com/codedarms/index.php&range=pistol_range
Look what I shot:

Wipeout Pure, as you can get wi-fi Internet access on your PSP, via the company's web portal....
(This month's T3 Mag shows you how to do it....)

Is there any difference in gaming speeds between the 50hz UK model and 60hz American/Japanese one?

I don't know, I only have the American model so I wouldn't know. Dat's a good ? though.

There is no 50 or 60hz when it comes to portables as they are all the same.
Im a DS fan myself, my job means I come into contact with the PSP quite a lot and tbh pretty much all the games are PS2 ports. There is the odd diamond like lumines and mercury but the DS has some refreshingly original titles. Elektroplankton is ace and Metoes is a far better puzzle game than Lumines (and by the same bloke too sorta).

I wish I had the luxury of being able to afford both systems. It's nice to have work that lets you come into contact with toys like that. I used to have a job doing sound for video games, commercials, TV and film and I'd get free DVD's and games, that was decent.
Alas, now I'm restricted to my PSP. Lately I'm still playing Coded Arms. Highly addictive, I really like it.
I can't afford a PSP, but I wouldn't buy one anyway, 'cos I want more of a gaming choice than just driving, sports or franchise crap. :p And as for Lumines, the DS has Meteos, which is at least as good, according to most review sites. :)
According to game.net, these are PSP releases for Sep/Oct: WRC, Colin McRae, TOCA, F1, Burnout Legends, GTA, Virtua Tennis and World Poker Tour. That's 5 or 6 driving games out of 8. Fact, not fanboyism. ;)

Gosh yes you are quite right - selecting 8 games from a specific month is entirely representative of a systems genre output accross its lifespan
Silly me.
I'd read somewhere that, in a break with tradition sony were going to allow other manufacturers to produce UMD drives, when they do that I'll think about getting one. To be able to copy my own films and data onto a UMD and watch it on the move sounds far more interesting to me.
That said from everything else I've read about them I want one, I really want one, for Wipeout Pure if nothing else.

In the days of the PSOne I remember me and my mates bemoaning the fact that every PS game seemed to be a driving game...funny really how the perception hasn't really changed.

Oh there will always be stacks & stacks of identical faceless genre staples......possibly more so for Sony as they seem to have the most prolific output for their consoles....
There are also plenty of gems in amongst the chaff though.
I think the reason Nintendo games and consoles seem to get so much praise is because releases are few and far between, but when they do come out they come up with the goods.
I love Nintendo stuff and Sony stuff for different reasons - I just hate lazy fanboyism!

Anyone picked it up yet? How is it? I'm gonna grab a copy after work. Looks awfully cute. There's a contest for a free copy on the official site: http://www.deathjr.com/contest.html
I think the main problem with the PSP so far is that it costs almost as much to make a PSP game as it does a PS2 game, which is not inspiring developers to design games specifically for the PSP. Nothing out yet that uses the PSP to it's full glory... I'm hoping Death Jr. will be the first.
