37 from Grove Vale or East Dulwich Grove, get off at the stop just before Effra Road and walk up water lane to Brixton Hill. Or the safer way is to stay on until Lambeth town hall and jump on a bus heading back up the hill.

Spider map (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/buses/spiders/pdf/eastdulwich.pdf). Try the P13, or get the 37 to Brixton and then a bus up the hill. (Or, indeed, as the previous poster suggests, you can get off at the Hobgoblin and then either walk the rest of the way or get another bus from the other end of Brixton Water Lane.)

The Hospital.

Where is North Dulwich Rail Station in relation to the Hospital please?
North Dulwich connects with Streatham Hill, which might be easier than East Dulwich if I decide on getting rail

Multimap of Dulwich Hospital (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?pc=se228pt&GridE=&GridN=&scale=10000&title=King's%20Hospital%20Dulwich&cat=h)
The hospital is closer to East Dulwich.
Both North Dulwich and East Dulwich connect to Streatham station - the one a mile further south than Streatham Hill. IIRC there's only one train a day from Streatham Hill direct to East Dulwich

Bollox. Streatham Hill is obviously a lot easier for me otherwise I'd get stuck in those Streatham jams

I'd go with the 37 bus option... (You'll lose the will to live on the P13 as it meanders its way around the backstreets!)

Sorry, in mad panic, leaving office now.
I'm assuming it's Zones 1-2 zone travelcard wouldn't cover rail to Dulwich?

East Dulwich station is in Zone 2 and would be covered by a Travelcard (but not by Oyster pre-pay)

Due to the entirely random nature of the 37, I find two feet to be the quickest and easiest way. 30 mins from central Brixton, so probably 20 - 25 to B Hill. ;)

Overland train from East Dulwich is 2 stops from Tulse Hill then you can either walk or get on a bus to Brixton Hill

After spending a day at work, then going from Victoria to Dulwich Hospital and staying there 'til 7.00 or 8.00pm, the last thing I want to do is be walking half hour to Brixton. :p

No changes? Shall check National Rail Enquires as that sounds best option. Every other rail journey seems to involve changing
I probably would have walked it myself.

Too right. I waited 45 minutes once for a 37. During that time, two "out of service" buses went sailing past and I was standing at the bus stop for so long I was propositioned by men in cars!

What do you expect dressed like that and swinging your handbag? :D

Right, well, you really just want to get on the 37 bus, it's just a question of whther you're getting another bus after that, or walking. I suppose if you're so far up the hill that Streatham Hill is close by, a train from East Dulwich might be worth it, but otherwise not.
(It is true, though, that the 37 is not as regular as one would wish...)

With Streatham Hill you have to change trains. (that's in Zone 3 as well so I'd have to change my Zones 1&2 travelcard and pay more). Think Tulse Hill might be best option.

Get bus from Tulse Hill to George Canning and then walk to Brixton HillYou don't want to get on that bus mate, it might be the last bus you ever take.
You're better off waiting for the 27 anyway, it goes there as well.

You mean the 37? That goes to Tulse Hill? Yeah, I know there's only the No. 3 from Tulse Hill (I think!)
Ah bugger, am going to have to try getting the bus one day, then the Tulse Hill train the next and see which is best

You can take the no. 2 or the 432 from Tulse Hill to Brixton Water Lane. Tulse Hill train station is zone 3 as well though.
(bit confused by this thread... so sorry if this is completely unhelpful info!)

If you click on the map I provided on the first page you wll see this to be the case. It seems more efficient to get one bus to a given spot rather than a train and then a bus just to get to the same place.

oh fuckety fuck. Looks like it's going to have to be the bus then
