always wanted to created an "official" type thread:D
There seems to have been craziness that happened involving Nationstates (www.nationstates.net) while i was away on holiday-dont actually understand what happened, but it doesn't matter:)
I think the original thread was a good place for people to ask questions abt the game and stuff so i thought i'd start another (coz the other seems to have diusappeared :cool: )
(For anyone who doesnt know- NS is a game where u can create a nation and control how it develops and also take part in missions and create havoc or try and resolve chaos....u can imagine which type the Urbanites are more involved in) :D

Good idea to recussitate this thread - we've been wandering in the wilderness for a while. It's a shame the last one was accidentally deleted as it had some great posts.
I think we should have the first few posts about the basics of how to play so anyone who wants to join in can learn to play (it's simple really - attack, attack, attack ;) ).
I'll post up something later about some of the basic strategies.

yup! we scared off the invaders and they got kicked out of the UN for rule violations:):D
maybe start moving out and about again through random regions-il hang abt in there for a bit incase they try something again

which one is your nation? i will post up a FAQ shortly but in the meantime to move into the Urbanites region you click on THE WORLD link on the side panel and then scroll to the bottom and type URBANITES in to "find region" section and then click on "move your nation to the Urbanites" link

ONCE YOU HAVE A NATION
Once you have created a region and are logged in to it you will see many links on your side panel
Click Settings make sure you have a valid e-mail address entered, then click “update”
JOINING UN
You may want to join the United Nations this will allow you to exert some power over the region and also allow you to be an active participant in defence/liberation/invasion operations
To join, click United Nations link and click “apply to join” you will be sent an e-mail in about 24hours to validate your UN status
To Resign from the UN follow the above and just click the “Resign from UN” link
You CANNOT have more than one UN nation running from the same IP address, you will be BANNED for this
UN nations are trusted more in their own regions because they are unlikely to be someone’s secondary “puppet” nation as no one is allowed 2 UN nations. However UN nations also pose a thread when moving into new regions as they can add endorsements and change who is in power
ENDORSING NATIONS
Once you are a UN nation you can endorse other nations, this shows your support for them and the delegate. The delegate is the head honcho of a region and has power to remove you from the region you reside in
To endorse a nation they must be in the same region as you
Click on their name and scroll down, you will see a small link under their blurb saying Add your endorsement which you click on. The same is done to remove an endorsement
The nation with the MOST endorsements in a region is made the delegate
UN UPDATES
Every morning at some random time each region has an update. This is when anyone new who has got more endorsements than the present delegate will get put into power. This is why most defence/liberations/invasions take place in the morning
MOVING REGION
To move to a new region you can:
a) Click on the name of your region on the side and scroll down to the Regional Happenings where you will see where people have come from and gone to. Click on any region name and then click Move to “this” region you will now be in a new region
b) Or click on The World link and scroll down and enter a region name into the relevant search and then click Move to “this” region as above
In order to COVER YOUR TRACKS good regions to move through are:
The Pacific, The West Pacific, The East Pacific, The South Pacific, The Rejected Realms, Lazarus, The North Pacific (make sure u type the "THE", u can move through other regions too...but make sure u travel through at last 2 of the mentioned ones to cover urself)
DEFENCE/LIBERATION/INVASIONS
Defences are when you move to another region and endorse a pre-confirmed nation (usually the delegate) in order to make sure the region is not taken over by invader (scum)
Liberations are carefully planned and secondary nations which are not UN are usually sent in first (non UN nations cannot pose a threat in terms of invasions) then UN status is usually switched from your main nation over to the secondary nation. By resigning from the UN with your main nation (see JOINING UN)
PASSWORDING A REGION
When you are a delegate you have access to Regional Controls
These can be found by clicking on the name of your region, the link is at the top
Once you have clicked it you will have option to BAN people and PASSWORD the region
ADDING TO YOUR DOSSIER
This is useful, it mean you can always track where a certain nation is without searching for them. To do this click on the nation you want to track
Scroll down to near the bottom and click Add to you dossier
To check your dossier click back to your nation scroll down and click View Dossier

btw current mission is to apply for UN status with a new nation...(make sure resign first!) and then go into either one of the following regions:
Pirates
Cuthroat island
The Jolly Roger
Den Training Camp
Do not activate your UN status until you are advised to do so though, just make sure u have applied:)

yeah that is true...but i make a point of saying The Pacific because it will definitely clear your trail within a few minutes as will all The Pacific regions(east/west/south)
also newer players may not know which regions are best to move through:)

I think Kid Eternity knew and the Editor seemed clued up.
I did alright at outing you, from what I remember we were password locked down, had to go through 56billion different regions on the way to Urbanites to avoid detection and had a team of Admins and Defenders turn up (A lot of which sent some interesting PM's which I must share with you all one day)
