Can any of the londoners online use their mobile?
- None of us can in our Holborn office.
I know this is just wild speculation, but I can't help wondering if they've closed the cells on the mobile networks fearing Madrid style phone detonations.

Bet somebody figured that.
My thoughts exactly. But the thing is, even if they (the police) had had full strength on the streets, nothing could have stopped a suicide bomber form stepping onto the tube or a bus. I am not saying this is what it is, but if they are going to do it they will do it.
Even Sir John Stevens said not long ago, that it's when, not if, it happens. Seems he was right.
CHRIST, sky have front shot of the bus.
There's nothing left. Nothing. Tavistock square as well, fucking hell!
Eyewitness reports, doctors police people screaming in background.
Two explosions at tavistock now

Too late. I am shitting myself. I hope my other half is OK.

Can't get through to my friend either, she sent me a text saying she was on a bus trying to get to work, then nothing...
Do you know if AS made it to work?
Any news on the second explosion in Russell Square a couple of minutes ago?

Not everyone is that strong though - there are those people who only just cling on to normal living.....
Something like this can really damage people - even those who weren't directly involed

mrs21 just rang...she left london before all this happened, probably 10 or 20 minutes before...she heard various rumours when she was on the train..but now she seems to be stuck in peterborough, so i might have to drive there to pick her up
If you have any problems drop me a PM - we're in Peterborough and can pick her up if necessary.

yeah it was the background noise which worried me, it was only a few seconds of loudness (she was standing by a road, it turns out!) but it's amazing what your imagination can do in that situation :(
Tourist on BBC saying it was a tourist bus that blew up...I think she just saw the bus blow up - not necessarily a tourist bus - looks like the standard red type from the pictures.

Edit to add Sky and BBC say controlled explosions set to take place soon.
I've been getting the tube in via Kings Cross to Old St where I work but cycled in today.....saw loads of fire engines and ambulances and wondered what was going on....
Thankfully we're all ok here at work - this all sounds bloody horrible and clearly timed with the G8 thing....

Yeah, but don't think she knew much about London buses - she then went on to say it may have been a 'big red'.
Don't take anything amiss from not being able to get through to people... mobile networks are clearly taxed right now.
Just spoke to my colleagues and they've been told to stay inside the building. A couple of people in my department haven't turned up or called in including a friend of mine. I can't get hold of her on her mobile and am worried sick.

It's highly likely the people you're worried about and can't contact are all OK. Stay calm and wait til the mobile networks clear a bit.
I'm assumimg that about Stig.
She was supposed to be on the tube today, from Kennington to North Acton (Northern and Central).
I'm sure she's safe, but it'd be nice to be reassured.
Support to all those affected and their family/friends. :(
Myself, I was cycling to work this morning (Walworth to South Kensington)and was unaware of anything at all ....didn't even know ANYTHING uuntil about 40 minutes ago ... my route was nowhere near the affected areas I suppose.

Just got into the office. Heard an explosion (presumably the Tavistock Square bus) but thought it was thunder. Then left the house to find my street cordoned off and loads of police about. They said there was a package round the corner from me in the station (but I think that was just them being cautious given what happened).
I saw one woman who'd clearly been near an explosion though she didn't seem hurt, just stuff on her face...
Walked in to the office (near Kings X) and saw the traffic and people on the streets and then heard what had happened.
Just trying to find out more now...

There were ealier reports of a power surge, but the electrical people are now saying that this wasn't right.
Unless it was the coincidence to end all coincidences, I think it's reasonable to assume a connection with the bus blasts. :( My boss even suggested that the tube blasts were intended to get people on to the buses and then... but maybe that is going a bit far.

Presumable due to lack of other information - I don't think that much was getting through to the news networks at that point, and those reports were from the underground people as opposed to the police (afai).
