I'm getting fed up with stupid Flash adverts causing my browser to freeze up, or, in the case of one last night, playing the crazy frog over and over with no "mute" option. Is there any way to switch it off except for when I actually need it? I'm using Firefox and can't see an option for this anywhere.
<edit - ignore me, found it!>
<edit again - no I haven't damnit it's still flashing away :mad:>
You sure you don't just have shitloads of spyware on your computer?
Have you installed the flashblock extension...? And you might want to try the adblock one as well.
http://flashblock.mozdev.org/ as above

Aaaaaaaaah peace :)
Cheers, that was exactly what I wanted. It was mostly Streetmap that was screwing me up, and now I can see why - there are five Flash ads on the map page.

The Macromedia Flash plugin is notorious for causing lockups and crashes on any browsers that aren't Internet Explorer. The good news is that a bunch of people are working on an open-source equivalent which should be much more stable. I only wish FlashBlock existed for Opera...!
