View Full Version : Cardiff City: Doomed?

What do you reckon? I can see Brighton and Crewe getting three points each, which leaves us needing two. I think Reading will beat us, and Gillingham will be a tough game--maybe a draw. So it'll come down to QPR on the last day, and we'll go into that game not knowing if we need to win or draw. So we'll have to go for a win, which could be risky. Fortunately, Rangers will have nothing to play for. So I'd put our chances of survival at about 70-30 in our favor. Mind you, we'll definitely go down next season, if we stil exist...

'Cardiff are too good to go down' - every manager that's beaten us this year.
'a must win game' - every game for the last three months
'it'll go down to the lastgame of the season' - the grand stand diasappointia
' I predict a riot' - The Kaiser Chiefs
' I predict more free time on a saturday' - The Relegated Buccaneer.
It's too tight to call right now. If we can pull another Stoke-type result out of the bag we'll be laughing.
If....

No I think you will stay up you have Neal Ardley & Jobi McAnuff & both ex-Dons playing for you & the teams below you Forest & Brighton have the stink of relegation about them..

I think a lot will hinge on the result of the last match of the season Forest v Gills. Forest have blown it, but Gillingham will be playing to stay up and for somebody else to go down. And that could be one of several clubs.

I think Gills will be safe by then, they've got to be the in form team of the championship !

Also, there's five clubs battling to avoid one relegation spot, so the chances of one of them cocking up, and of it not being us, are quite good. Watford and Coventry are only one point above us, with worse goal diff, and both have tough run-ins. Nothing to worry about...

Reading - We don't have much luck against these, as ed said, fingers crossed for a Stoke stylee performance.
Gillingham - I'll plump for the draw, we've taken maximum points off them in the 3 games since we were promoted, but they're playing extremely well at the mo' (*sigh* the memory of that 5-0 tumping we gave them, sunny day, earnie popping them in for fun from every angle, seems so very very distant)
QPR - I have a dire feeling about this game, they prob won't have anything to play for but they want revenge for May 2003. For some reason every QPR i've ever met has pissed me right off! Super Hoops my arse!
COME ON CITY!!
\o/ <o> \o/ <o>
I've got a nasty, nasty feeling in the pit of my stomach............... :(
We're already down. Our players should have sobered up from their little piss up by May 8th, when we'll manage to hold Gillingham to a 0-0 draw if we're lucky and take them down with us.
Well maybe not, buts either the Gills or Coventry, having looked at their run-in. Watford are in freefall, but will stay up by virtue of someone else being shiter than them. Dont think it'll be Cardiff, well not this year anyway

take them down with us.
:)
We've been here before: we survived last season and we will this.

RE-fucking-SULT!!

RE-fucking-SULT!!
Just 2 points needed for safety now, probably less. But we'll probably still go into the QPR game not sure...
The bottom of the table is ridiculously tight:
15 Plymouth 44 -10 52
16 Leicester 43 0 50
17 Cardiff 44 -4 50
18 Watford 44 -7 49
19 Coventry 44 -15 49
20 Gillingham 44 -21 48
21 Crewe 44 -17 47
22 Brighton 44 -26 47
23 Nottm Forest 44 -23 43
24 Rotherham 44 -33 28
Our impressive goal average may prove crucial later on...shame about Brighton's last minute equaliser (even if do rather like the Seagulls)

Are there any other former European champions that have been relegated to the third tier of their respective leagues?

Did it happen to Sampdoria, before going bust, did they get kicked out?

What a game today!! Blooooobirds. We played like a proper team al though helped by a dire reading performance.
Reckon a point will see us clear, although i'm sure one of the teams below us will fail to get a point in their last 2 games.

You did us (pne) a great favour in beating the royals. Hope you stay up and go up next season.
Forest & Crewe to join Rotherham = result for us Stokies !! :D traitorous dog Kris Commons in league one along with the trainspotters !!
If I'm not mistaken, if Crewe or Brighton lose on Saturday we're safe!
(short of us losing by a huge pile of goals)

Yep, and Crewe are away at Ipswich, who are chasing an automatic promotion spot, so with any luck they'll get hammered. The bad news is, this means we'll be stuck with Lennie for another season. And probably Sam too, although that's more unpredictable. I suspect that our fortunes are linked to political events in the Lebanon in ways we can barely imagine...

So we BOTH ended up floating high over Crewe's arse then, Bomber. A strange game it is indeed

Total rebuilding of the team in the summer. Everyone is getting sold, with da yoof being retained and a bunch of workaday journeymen brought in. Bookies favourites for the drop next year?

Sure is Bendy !! ;)
Crewe are 2-0 down already. Unless they stage a miraculous recovery (or we lose by zillions of goals), it looks like the Bluebirds could be safe! :)

Fuck it. We could have done with those points. Next week against Forest is going to be a real nail-bighter.
It's Brighton, Gillingham or Crewe.
Crewe - who got stuffed 5-1 today - are at home to Coventry - who thrashed Derby 6-2 today.
Brighton are at home to Ipswich - a tough game and Gillingham face Notts Forest.
It's tight all right!

I went to the Gillingham v Cardiff game, neither are my team but credit to both sets of fans, they sung thier hearts out all the way through.
And a streaker ! :o

No it isn't. We've been totally spineless all season, and the Forest players just aren't bothered. Doubt severely next weekend will be any different. You should get yer 3 points without breaking sweat.
It's Brighton, Gillingham or Crewe.
It's Crewe please oh please it's Crewe !!!! :D
Oh yes! Got our own back on QPR today - 1-0 :)
Funny thing is that we've ended up with a vaguely respectable league position after all the stress of the relegation battle.
Blooooo, er, birds!
Crewe have just survived by the skin of their teeth, so it's goodbye Gillingham...
Can't say I'm sorry that the Gills have gone down. There's just summat about them. Oh yeah. BLOOOOBIRRRDS!
Relegation scrap next season though, methinks

They were 5 mins from safety until Paul Parry scored, BAM! Ironic they've got down due to a goal difference of 1, the exact same amount the survived with last season. Living dangerously..........And now they're dead.

'twas a cracking final match, though. And if the Forest keeper, Doyle, didn't get man-of-the-match, there is no justice in the world. As for being dead, we're well used to division three football. We will be back. :)
