It was a totally informal chat with an admissions bod just to see whether they think it's a ridiculous idea and I shouldn't even be thinking about it as a single parent. I've got a better idea of what I'd be letting myself in for and what I need to have a good chance of being accepted and I'm not put off it for next year
Kingstone Press Dry Cider was on 4 660ml bottles for a fiver in my local spa, which is normally silly expensive! Sipping a few to celebrate pay day before I work out how skint I still am.
Mount Gay. Eleven hour day today, tomorrow and then a twelve hour day starting at 5 on Friday rum is essential.
Having just finished my third 12 hour shift in a row, and considering I need to be in at 7am tomorrow, I am inclined to agree.
I rather like this one - about £6 a bottle from Morrisons - masses of fruit - but complex - almost clarety - though less refined. The manufacturer suggests it could improve with a few years' rest, and I suspect I may give it a go. La Châsse Winemaker’s Selection Côtes du Rhône. A shame Morrison's is at a point on my commute where I'm in full sprint-mode... I've now tried 3 of their wines and this is a second one I will buy again. http://www.lachassewines.com/our-wines/wine/7
Tesco Finest Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu When I opened it yesterday it was high tannin, slightly acidic/astringent, but pleasant all the same. Today it's rounded off, the fruit is more "red" and full. I'll definitely try this one again - about £7 I think.
Bacardi Oakheart. New one on me this, quite nice. Think I prefer Morgans Spiced but it's a nice drop. Bit of diet coke with it and ice.
Cotes du Rhone, thanks to that gentlegreen. Just been given some Lamb's spiced, NVP. Not sure how I'll go on with it as I find them all a bit too much of a vanilla-y muchness. Prefer my rum like my vole primers - naked!
Ice cold Stella to wash down a violently chilli-rich Thai meal. I used Super-Naga Chillies and it's totally volcanic. What I like about trying to stop chilli-burn with lager is that it doesn't work. You get a moment of cold lagery relief and then the chillies come back at you tenfold. I swear I'm a masochist for this shit.
Fleurie - technically a Beaujolais - very nice straight out of the bottle. Fruity and well rounded. Another wine at about £7.
I'm getting into this Bacardi Oakheart stuff. It's nicer straight up with ice I've found. Still prefer Morgan's Spiced overall though.
