Stirling uni didn't
A tree has blown onto a house on the high street of the village where I went to primary school. Bit worried about my parents now (they live three miles or so from there and have a 300-year-old oak tree thirty feet from the house)
Byres road shut to through traffic - falling building cladding.
My work shut at 1 - unprecedented, they didn't even let us going more than 30 mins early in the winter blizzards last year.
Can you get in contact with them?
Tbf that just looks like that dodgy Lapland Theme park those two crooks set up a couple of years ago
A wind turbine came down in the Borders - very close to the road by all accounts.
More attractions though.
151 mph wind reported from Cairngorm.
Believe it or not, these are brand new lights this year and an improvement on what went before!
I wonder if there's any idiots out for a stroll
Just spoke to them, they are fine although eyeing up the tree a bit.
Trees do spring out on you, to be fair. Shifty feckers. Glad your parents are ok.
I can vouch for this - aberdeen city council does have a penchant for crap christmas lights (2007 & 2008)
From the BBC:
'Two customers at the cafe within Elgin library suffered minor injuries when a section of the suspended ceiling came down. An investigation into the cause of the incident is being carried out, but the possibility that it was caused by a freak gust of wind has not been ruled out'
Those were the ones they just replaced. Although they did find and reinstate the leapoard outside HMT that "got lost" a few years back.
This is the wind turbine
Corrected for you
More ammo for the anti-wind farm campaigners
Cairngorm summit just recorded 165mph, 8 mph short of the all-time record.
It'll be broken by teatime.
Fucking hell! Be safe Scottish Urbans!
*battens down the hatches*
I am actually thinking of venturing out to take a few pics
