The dispute between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan over number of oil fields in the Caspian region continues... A few days ago Azerbaijan said it is ready to protect its rights and it seems that by all means – in 2008 Azerbaijan's gunships already threatened Turkmenistan's oil ships but we learned about it just a couple of weeks ago and it seems these incidents were not previously reported (www.eurasia.org/node/65542). Looks like after the West took Azerbaijan's side in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, it got inspired and hopes for the same support regarding to other countries, including implicit support of Baku's interests and military aggression against Turkmenistan. This way, Azerbaijan, blinded by unreasonable and short-sighted policy of Europe and US, can provoke war between Caspian states for resources... Does Europe really need that? Any conflict in the region will bring only troubles with supply of Caspian energy resources to the West. Why making a rod for our own back?
