Following on from my Ultimate 80's Sci-fi/Horror movies thread...... What albums or actual soundtracks can you recommend which have that 80's Sci-Fi synth-heavy sound. You know the thing - The Terminator, Day of the Dead, that kind of stuff. Minor-key, throbbing, evil and melancholy progressive synth chords?
Italian Horror Soundtracks Rock Have a listen to this: ftp://www.elektrosonik.com/elektrosonik/mixes/maximilian/noctambulo-cinemaparadiso.mp3
Artemiev's soundtrack to Stalker, Bowie's stuff used in Christiane F, Wendy Carlos and others - The Shining, Vangelis - Blade Runner. Have I got this right?
<download complete> Well! Holy! Fuck! You! Massive! Ginger! Genius! Close the thread. OU has (rather disturbingly) pushed his grubby paws right into my head and ripped my desires straight out of my brain in order to offer up a more perfect answer to my plea than I could have possibly hoped for. Orang' If you ever find yourself down, out and utterly desperate, I would gladly give you a well deserved suck-job in payment for your services.
Can it wait until I am back in the UK? Alas, my suction-skills are limited to a subject residing on the same continent as myself. Put it in the bank though dude, you have earned it.
Artemiev I've got on CD but I'm sure it's out of print, easy to DL, same for 'the shining', the Bowie material is on the second sides of 'low' and 'heroes' and also the pointless 'christiane f soundtrack', all available, for Vangelis you want to look for one of the various bootleg editions (not the official re-recording on CD) that are easily had on the internet
Love Giorgio Moroder's soundtrack for Paul Schraders Cat People remake and Tangerine Dreams' for Near Dark and the aforementioned Miracle Mile. Jack Nietzsche's Staman is also great as is Mark Isham's The Hitcher. My favourite ever soundtrack of that kind is Goblin's for Dawn of the Dead, but that's still 70's. My favourites by John Carpenter are Escape from NY, The Fog and Prince of Darkness.
The delightfully named Crippled Dick Hot Wax label has released many great (and not so great) dodgy foreign movie soundtracks: http://www.discogs.com/label/Crippled Dick Hot Wax!
A couple of new LP's on Not Not Fun might fit this bill. http://boomkat.com/vinyl/347202-umberto-prophecy-of-the-black-widow http://boomkat.com/vinyl/347203-ensemble-economique-psychical
i think you will like the latest resident advisor podcast by alan howarth who co-wrote many of john carpenter's scores: http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?id=230 he also made all those ace noises in poltergeist
No one has mentioned Phenomena (Or Creepers depending on where you live) with its bizarre mix of Goblin esq drones and Iron Maiden backed stalk scenes Wiki link here. Slightly off topic but the best soundtrack for a horror(ish) movie I have ever heard is the one for Devils Rejects. Its outsanding in an Americana type of way.

I knew this day would come. I had booked tickets to the UK...but...the snow and all that...you know? ...besides, I have this terrible headache.
