this is absolutely insane. workfare at a fast food joint? what the fuck do they think is going to happen?
  11. Spanky Longhorn a paw, a boot, a baseball bat

    It's a factory
  12. treelover Karen Sherlock, not forgotten...

Its a massive con, there is a similar factory here that employs mostly East Europeans, really long shifts, minimum wage, my friend was taken on with absolutely no experience, what sort of training do they need, the college is complicit in this as well..
  13. Metal Malcolm ODT resident emo

My ex used to work at the notts pizza factory just after we graduated. It was a horrible place, and I think she was the only british person working there at the time. There is absolutely no training or skills to be learnt there, it's pure slave labour. What an utter pile of shit.
  14. Ax^ Silly Rabbit

About the same as when anyone works their...

But seriously shitty move by the group..

Is the suggestion that this company upped sticks and moved it's factory, creating a new subsidiary in the process in order to get 100 people to do a week of free labour?
  16. Ted Striker Foot's on the other hand

Certainly not the 4 cheese special

It will be a continual process of 'free' one week labour, as I said, no experience is needed, they will be on the line from day one..

    4. win an interview
    5. get job
    6. goto 1.

This is just the YTS of the 80s all over again. I worked for a place that did this with alarming regularity - i.e. take on trainee for £30 per week, at end of 6 months find spurious reason to sack them before obliged to give them full-time job on proper pay, take on new trainee at £30 per week, etc, etc, I thought that sort of shit was consigned to history - cunts!

Yeah, but you got extra money on YTS, don't get that on workfare.. and sometimes YTS involved 1-2 year placements with proper training.. mostly workfare doesn't even pretend to be about training, just experience.

That cartoon illustrates perfectly why street-cleaners aren't issued with "pigstickers" anymore, though. :)
